Abstract
In this chapter a number of organic reactions are discussed which involve as catalysts stable, isolable organometallic complexes of the transition metals, or which are thought to involve unstable organometallic intermediates. The polymerization of ethylene by Ziegler catalysts is discussed on p 95. Many of the catalytic reactions discussed below involve the transfer of hydrogen and it is thought that the active catalytic intermediates may contain metal-hydrogen bonds.
