Abstract
This chapter is devoted to the introduction of three different types of moment and their properties. The definitions are independent of the postulates of dynamics; rather they are extensions of the vector algebra introduced in Chapter 1. However, the discussion is a necessary preliminary to the next chapter which deals with the dynamics of rigid bodies.
