Abstract

This chapter has been written with the hindsight of our experiences of moving into and opening a new comprehensive division of pathology, consisting of four major departments on a new hospital site. Previously, the clinical chemistry and haematology departments were situated in one hospital, and the microbiology and histopathology departments in a second hospital. These hospitals were 101 miles apart.
