Abstract
The situation which served as an example for this analysis of the composition of functions comprises, on the one hand, links which are clearly physical jor causal (the draining of a liquid with levels determined by the different shapes of the containers) as well as the operations properly so-called of serial correspondences (the multiplicative grouping of transitive asymmetric relations). This provides us with an opportunity to study the relationships between the causal and the operatory aspects of functions at the same time as the problem of their composition, both of these questions naturally being indivisible.
