Abstract
In this chapter we consider first the difference between free space and guided waves and then develop the theory for electromagnetic waves in rectangular waveguides. A discussion of waveguide modes is followed by an introduced to resonant cavities and the chapter concludes with the shortcomings of the classical theory of cavity radiation.
