Lichen Planus

  • Chapter
Dermatology

Abstract

Lichen planus is a distinct clinical entity of unknown aetiology. Infective agents, particularly viruses and mycoplasma, have been implicated as the cause of lichen planus, but there is no evidence that this is so. It is not uncommon, accounting for 1% of new patients in dermatological clinics in the UK.
