Abstract
One of the most widespread forms of plant stands in arid and semi-arid zones are halfshrubs. Among these plants winch occur in the deserts and semi-deserts of Central Asia and Kazakhstan, a special place is occupied by wormwood. Representatives of this genus are strikingly well adapted to existence under conditions of severe drought. It could, therefore, be assumed that the leading place of wormwood in the phytocenosis, developing in arid environments, is conditioned to a certain extent by the character of its water relations.
