Abstract
In the introduction, some of the astrophysical implications of studies on the galactic cosmic ray electrons are mentioned. The various difficulties encountered in the measurement of these electrons are discussed. The experimental results which were obtained so far by balloon-borne and also by satellite-borne instruments are critically reviewed. A summary of the results is presented.
