Newton’s theory of space-time admits two kinds of real and mutually irreducible entities: physical events and space-time points any of which is a time instant in a space point. The first and the second are the fundamental elements of the physical reality. In this conception the notions of the event and of the space-time point and also the notions of the instant and of the point play the role of the primitive notions.
