Abstract
From the analyses of the residual latitudes of the 26 IPMS stations during six years from 1962 to 1967, a local trend in latitude variation by other than the polar motion was obtained for each station. They are found to be most likely to depend on the terms of 3 A, which might rather be attributed to an assumed gradual deformation of the Earth or a variation of geopotential surface than to the astronomical origins.
Coordinates of the pole calculated from the results of the 26 IPMS stations are compared with those obtained from the five ILS stations and the systematic difference between them is discussed from the viewpoint of the deformable earth or the variable geopotential surface.
