Abstract
There is some generality in the attempt to derive directly reaction rates from in situ measurements, whatever the geophysical importance of the reactions considered, because many upper atmospheric models are based on laboratory-measured rates, and it is legitimate to wonder to what extent upper atmospheric conditions, indeed, relate to laboratory conditions.
