Abstract
Some 35 years ago Hermann Fränkel, in a letter to Walther Kranz, pointed out that the (Stoic) comments on Heraclitus’ frgg. 64 and 66 DK, preserved in Hippolytus’ Elenchos 9. 10. 7 (pp. 243, 22–244, 1 Wendland), obviously do not correspond with the quotations from Heraclitus and that probably we have to do with a double displacement in the transmitted text of the Elenchos, namely:
