Abstract
As early as the first decade of the nineteenth century, the eight brothers of Emperor Franz formed a kind of party at court held together by a common desire for power. As we have seen, the imperial princes were, as a rule, jealously excluded by the emperor from real political influence. They were opposed by high officials, both military and civilian, and by the favorites of Franz 1.
