Abstract

Malnutrition may have numerous causes and affect all ages. Some of these causes alter amino acid metabolism and protein synthesis in highly specific ways. A deficiency of iodine is one and a deficiency of iron is another, but these must be relatively well known to you. Others may not be so familiar, but this is not the meeting at which to discuss them: only to point out that they exist.
