Abstract
Before attempting any piping we must consider the outline of the rabbit and its general make-up. For this purpose a sitting rabbit would provide us with the best practical example. First, note the shape of the head, the position of the eyes and ears; and secondly the proportion of body; and thirdly the position of forelegs and hind-legs. To help in assessing the various positions, draw a 1 1/4 in. square and bisect it into four equal divisions. The rabbit is then drawn as in the illustration. This method of procedure is primarily in order to achieve an eye for proportion and outline, for once this has become a mental picture it is comparatively easy to portray in sugar. At this stage one can always outline the figure and fill in with soft sugar when dry; the details may be added later, be it with sugar or colour.
