Abstract
Ionising radiation influences major biochemical processes occurring in cell plastids. Changes were observed by several authors following β and γ irradiation. FÜCHTBAUER (1961) reported inhibition of photosynthetic phosphorylation to 50% at the dose of 130 krads and of Hill’s reaction at 530 krads. There are no available data however, concerning the effects of neutron irradiation and of small doses of ionising radiation on chloroplasts.
