Abstract
According to Bochenski and Menne, ‘Symbolic Logic’ can be characterized as the theory of logical calculus, its premises and its application. In their opinion it is the task of ‘Metalogic’ to investigate the formal premises of logical calculus. The fields of syntax, semiotics and semantics belong primarily to this discipline. They further distinguish between Metalogic and, what they term, Metalogy, which is the discipline which investigates the philosophical fundaments of the logical calculus.1
