Abstract
It has long been a truism to state that metaphysical thought revolves around a conception of “being.” In fact, since the notion of “being” was first cast into the spotlight by Parmenides, man has taken it for granted that to talk metaphysically is to speak against the background of suppositions regarding the meaning given to “being.” Hence, if we note that a theory of “being” is the doctrine central and operative in all the expositions of Aquinas’ Commentary, we are not saying anything not already obvious.
