Abstract

It is difficult to forecast exactly what Europe will be like in the year 2000. At this moment, it is possible to pick out a certain number of currents which give some indication of the probabilities, but everything will depend on the political decisions taken during the next ten years. The future in the year 2000 may be completely different, depending on the direction followed in the next few years by all our economic, social and cultural policies.

This text is one of the last to be written by André Philip: his death occurred before he was able to put the finishing touches to it. As a tribute to this eminet Scholar and statesman, and to the great European André Philip was, we are publishing his thoughts in the form in which they were passed to us, without remarks or commentary.
