Abstract
When philosophers compare the “before” and “after” of a scientific revolution, thus the birth of special relativity, they tend to divide into two camps: those who speak of a revolution in belief and those who speak of a conceptual revolution. The disagreement is a typically philosophical one, since what is at issue is not the facts but rather the categories in terms of which their deep connections with other facts are to be made manifest.
