Abstract
Chapter 11 of Volume I deals with the morphological side of the verbal material in the Parker Chronicle, and gives besides a statistical account of all the verbal forms occurring in PC. In this chapter we shall be concerned with the uses of these verbal forms. Since we shall have to discuss the functions of the tenses in OE, a few brief remarks about their origin might be helpful.
