Abstract
It is generally agreed that Lake Kariba can be defined as the expanse of water artificially created on the Middle Zambezi River between the Kariba Dam and the Deka/Zambezi R. confluence. Extreme geographical coordinates are therefore: latitudes 16°28′-18°04′ South and longitudes 26°42′-29°03′ East. Its longitudinal axis roughly coincides with the political boundary between Zambia (North) and Rhodesia, and shows a general SW-NE orientation.
