The Schwarzschild Solution

  • Chapter
Lectures on General Relativity

Abstract

As a first application of the field equations (19.7) we shall determine the gravitational field of a spherically symmetric body at rest. We assume that there are no contributions to the field from any other matter. Consequently the field will be spherically symmetric and time-independent or static.
