Monochromatic Waves and Inhomogeneity Effects

Abstract

Wave-particle interactions (WPI’s) are known to play an important role in the loss or acceleration of magnetospheric plasma. A wide variety of waves, observed either on satellites, or from ground based observatories, is due to WPI’s. We will be mainly concerned here with circularly polarized waves propagating along field lines.
