Abstract
We report observations of energetic and relativistic electrons made by the highly eccentric ESRO satellite HEOS 2 near the high-latitude tail magnetopause. There is generally a particle layer near the magnetopause, containing electrons up to about 1 MeV. The particle intensity shows a clear dependence on geomagnetic activity.
