  • Conference paper
Correlated Interplanetary and Magnetospheric Observations

Part of the book series: Astrophysics and Space Science Library ((ASSL,volume 42))

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to place the HEOS-2 polar cusp observations that will be described in more detail in the following two papers, in proper perspective with regard to earlier measurements. Previous satellite results are shortly reviewed. The orbit of HEOS 2 and its experiments contributing to the polar cusp observations are presented. The topology of the polar cusp as seen by HEOS 2 is compared to the results from IMP 5.
