Abstract
The effect of gibberellic acid (GA3) on the growth and yield of dwarf pea (Pisum sativum L. var. ‘Bordi’), on the rates of CO2 exchange in the light and in darkness and on the flowering of plants after injection of GA3 to the pods were investigated. It has been shown that GA3 in concentration of 100 ppm applied during seed imbibition strongly stimulated the growth of the seedlings and the yield of plants, enhanced the respiration of seeds, the rates of apparent photosynthesis, photorespiration and respiration of shoots. The injection of GA3 (200 ppm) to the pods containing seeds induced the appearance of new shoots, flower buds and flowers on the fully developed plants. Similar effect was produced after extraction of the seeds from the pods. The appearance of new shoots after GA3 application to the pods induced the transport of photo-assimilates from the seeds to these new organs.
