Abstract
The studies were conducted by a team of 11 workers for 3 years, 1969 to 1971. The objective of these studies was to examine the paths of energy flow through an ecosystem, i.e., to determine the amount of energy stored and transferred between trophic levels, and to give an analysis of animal contribution to some key processes involved in energy flow. The study area was a mountain pasture grazed by sheep. It was located in the Pieniny mountains, southern Poland, 700 m above see level on the area of former fields.
