Abstract
It is a well-known fact that springtails react readily to the slightest changes in their environment. Population density and the pattern of their spatial distribution are frequently defined by microconditions in neighbouring plant samples. Environmental influences of the plants are particularly marked under conditions of the continental climate of Siberia, where soils are frozen to a considerable depth in winter and desiccate in summer (Stebayeva 1963). In the present paper, associations of Collembola with the individual plants are discussed.
