Abstract
The ISEE-C spacecraft (formerly known as the IME ‘Heliocentric’) forms part of the joint NASA/ESA ‘International Sun-Earth Explorers’ mission, which is to make important contributions to the International Magnetospheric Study. The ISEE-C spacecraft will be placed in 1978 in the solar wind upstream of the Earth at about 235R E distance, to be unaffected by the presence of the magnetosphere. Besides making important measurements in its own right, this spacecraft will be able to monitor those solar wind features that will convect towards the Earth and that can give rise to processes that occur in or around the magnetosphere.
