  • Chapter
Homogeneous Hydrogenation in Organic Chemistry

Part of the book series: Homogeneous Catalysis in Organic and Inorganic Chemistry ((CMCO,volume 1))

Abstract

Chapter I presented a general outline of the process of catalytic hydrogenation based on a reaction sequence of addition of a metal hydride across an olefinic bond followed by hydride insertion into the carbon-metal σ-bond so formed. The detailed mechanism was not, however, considered.
