Abstract

The development of the laboratory capability of measuring ionospheric reaction rate constants has occurred almost entirely in the past decade. The progress in this field in the past decade has been enormous and there are now a number of groups actively measuring ionospheric ion-neutral reaction rate constants by a variety of laboratory techniques and a tremendous reservoir of data now exists on many hundreds of reaction rate constants. Recently a tabulation of binary ionospheric rate constants was published (Ferguson, 1973).
