Abstract

Observations of the brightness of the Sun with moderate spatial resolution in any wavelength band, whether the band be very broad or very narrow, show a highly structured surface. The location and width of the pass-band determine the effective height in the atmosphere that is observed, and, hence, they determine the structural features observed.
