Abstract
I assembled the material contained in this volume from the 15th to the 27th of March, 1913, in the following villages of the county of Maramureş (Máramaros):
Ieud1 (Jád), Vişăul-de-jos (Alsóvisó), Bocicoiel (Kisbocskó), Drago-mireşti (Dragomérfalva), Cuhea (Izakonyha), Pătrova (Petrova), Poieni (Sajómező), Glod,2 Văleni (Mikolapatak), Năneşti (Nánfalva), and Onçesti (Váncsfalva). I traveled to all of these places in the company of Mr. Ion Bîrlea, who was at that time the Greek Orthodox priest at Ieud, and who most obligingly shared all the hardships of the collecting to help insure its success.
