Abstract
We begin our study of Spanish Renaissance thought with a chapter dedicated to a remarkable but practically forgotten group of Spanish logicians teaching at the University of Paris in the first decade of the sixteenth century. The purpose of this introduction is twofold: to present the reader a strong “chiaroscuro” contrasting the languid medievalism of terminist logic with the exciting novelty of humanistic ideals, and to show the Parisian background of early Spanish Renaissance thought.
