Abstract
The traditional form in which symbol has occurred is myth. In the following chapter, using insights derived from Eliade, Ricoeur and Claude Lévi-Strauss, we wish to show how it is possible to construct a theoretical approach to myth which integrates insights from both the structural and the hermeneutical schools.
