What becomes of the continuity of religion on the view expressed here — Hans Hofmann asks1 — a view which
if not advocating an anarchistic nihilism, at least calls for dangerous living … [by insisting] on our finding out through surrender whether or not the judgment of the group is trustworthy enough both to reject disruptive rebellion … and affirm the creatively new … ?
