Abstract

The major thesis of the foregoing has been that a sense of “vagueness” existed in both Russia and America before the turn of the century; furthermore, this sense of vagueness has been lost. An analysis of centomporary Soviet sources shows that not only has this important sense of vagueness been lost, but the loss itself has been repressed. In other words, Marxism-Leninism has turned the “feeling of loss” into a “loss of feeling”.
