Abstract

In this paper we will describe some of the more conspicuous auroral features as they appear in the ISIS-2 scanning photometer data, using the results of improved programs for transforming the data into a corrected geomagnetic cordinate frame and for producing latitude profiles of auroral intensities at different magnetic local times. Special attention will be given to the diffuse aurora and its relation to the morphology of discrete auroras. The ISIS instrument is particularly well-suited for this purpose due to its wide dynamic range, monochromatic bandpass, and low threshold (Anger et al, 1973).
