Abstract
En géostatistique minière, comme au fond en n’importe quelle discipline scientifique à caractère appliqué, on poursuit un double objectif:
-
— d’une part, on cherche à synthétiser l’information disponible, à dégager les grands traits structuraux du phénomène auquel on s’intéresse (ici un gisement minier) et à s’en faire une représentation conceptuelle (un “modèle”) aussi clair que possible.
-
— d’autre part, on cherche à résoudre efficacement des problèmes de caractère très pratique, concernant par exemple l’estimation de telle ou telle caractéristique du gisement à partir d’un échantillonnage fragmentaire.
