Summary

Up to date, 15 Gyrinid species were recorded from Rumania in the literature. Intensive studies of the author revealed that only 9 species are present, 4 of them of sibirian, 5 of them of mediterranean origin. The following species must be deleted, because the previous records are based on misidentifications: Aulonogyrus striatus, Gyrinus marinus, G. natator, G. dejeani, G. urinator and G. aeratus. It is noteworthy that the wellknown G. natator is also lacking in Rumania.
