Abstract
The family Oestridae (Oestroidea Cavicolae) is divided into 4 subfamilies: (i) Tracheomyiinae, new (only genus, Tracheomyia Townsend; Australian; larvae parasitic on the kangaroo); (ii) Pharyngobolinae, new (only genus, Pharyngobolus Brauer; African; larvae parasitic on the African elephant); (iii) Cephenemyiinae Townsend (4 genera; Holarctic; larvae parasitic on Cervidae and Bovidae); and (iv) Oestrinae (several genera; African and Palaearctic; larvae parasitic on some groups of Artiodactyla and Perissodactyla).
