The Triplet Mechanism

Part of the book series: Nato Advanced Study Institutes Series ((ASIC,volume 34))

Abstract

The triplet mechanism of electron spin polarization is described first qualitatively, and then with full dynamical freedom allowing for rotation chemical quenching, and initiation with polarized light. The contents are (1) the underlying physical model, including an estimate of the magnitudes and an argument based on a simple kinetic scheme, (2) the full dynamical problem, treating relaxation, rotation, and reaction consistently.
