Abstract

Using our earlier terminology, both pre-Jonesians and Jonesians can speak about the dispositions (to act) of an organism. However, the pre-Jonesians construe dispositions in an instrumentalistic (or Rylean) fashion whereas Jonesians do it “realistically”. In the case of psychological dispositions like wanting, believing and intending, Jonesians thus introduce categorical episodic features to go with them.
