Abstract
Considerable progress has been made in the study of the late stages of stellar evolution, gravitational collapse, and neutrino physics. However, the mechanisms by which stars undergo supernova explosions is still not understood. This report discusses some of the recent developments in the study of one supernova mechanisms, the neutrino transport mechanism, and indicates what future developments are needed before this model can be adequately understood.
