Metal-Ligand Interactions in Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry

Part of the book series: The Jerusalem Symposia on Quantum Chemistry and Biochemistry ((JSQC,volume 9-1))

Abstract

Proteins associated with metallic cations are found throughout the biological system. Consequently, studies of metal protein interactions have developed as an important research area in biochemistry. When metal protein interactions are viewed in the context of the varied phenomena of metals in enzymology, a panorama of the extensive role of metals in biological systems unfolds.
