The reader might well be astonished to come across a chapter on sacred eloquence or the proclamation of the word of God and the christian message in a philosophical essay. And yet in the context of the problematic conflict between rhetoric and philosophy, the phenomenon of Christian preaching is of utmost importance. Why is this so?
