Extraterrestrial Life and Communication Perspectives
The aim of this paper is to propose a stronger connection and collaboration between SETI program and the space science research on extraterrestrial life. Considering the continuos progress in the whole space science research, like in astronomy and bioastronomy, a more interdisciplinary approach in organizing SETI projects may be not only useful but really necessary to improve and to suggest new lines of research. Working side by side with astronomers and bioastronomers and looking at their discoveries, for example about new extrasolar planets and first possible tracks of primitive life, SETI may get useful suggestions to follow in order to detect where extraterrestrial forms of intelligent life might develop in the future or instead, unlikely, are to be born. Thus, the organization of a task force to search for extraterrestrial life, called here “the Macrocosm project”, and the drafting of as much as possible interstellar maps as exhaustive as possible to use in extraterrestrials’ hunting, are suggested in order to renew SETI programs and to look for new chances of success.
