Part of the book series: NATO Science Series ((NAII,volume 4))

Abstract

The Limit States Design of Steel Structures has been introduced in Russia since 1955. The main ideas of Eurocode 3 or Load and Resistance Factor Design in USA are similar to those ones of Limit State Design. This method is being developed in Russia constantly. At present it involves three basic concepts, namely: ultimate capacity, total serviceability and serviceability for normal operation.
