Abstract
Presented here are the results of a survey conducted among inhabitants of an area damaged by flooding in 1997. The goal of the study was to determine the knowledge and behavior of inhabitants in the area of flood protection. This information will be used in the construction of a local flood protection plan.
Presented are selected issues concerning inhabitants’ knowledge regarding flood risk, the flood warning system, actions taken by inhabitants which could contribute to limiting future flood losses, as well as the present perception of risk and of the flood protection system.
